Wireless Networks

For those of you with a wireless network in your home and/or work environment, it is important that you ensure the privacy of your computers by applying a password. Security issues are becoming more prevalent as more computer users are setting up networks.

If your network is unsecured, it can be illegally accessed by others with a wireless-capable computer. Not only are they using the bandwidth you are paying for, but they can use this same route to gain access to the information on your computers. If you are unsure whether your network is secure, or if you need assistance, please give us a call.

Security Programs

Antivirus and Antispyware programs are necessary on computers today. It is important that you find reputable program to install and that you maintain it by making sure the virus definitions and other updates are kept current, and that it is running scheduled scans. If you are using a subscription-based program, such as Norton or McAfee, it is also necessary to pay attention to the expiration date.

You may or may not need a full service security program that includes a firewall, parental controls, etc. Some of these large programs can make an older computer run very slow. We can help you decide what works best for you.
